BRENDAN T. CURRAN
SEMINOLE, FLA./HORNELL-Brendan T. Curran, 58, of Seminole, Florida, died on March 17, 2012, after a brief illness.
Brendan was the son of the late Donald J. Curran, Sr., and Eleanor E. Curran. He was also the stepson of the late Jeanne Curran.
Born April 21, 1953 in Hornell, Brendan was a resident of Hornell from 1953-1963, during which time his father was the business manager of The Evening Tribune newspaper. He was a 25 year resident of Florida and a U.S. Army veteran who served in the military police. Brendan was an active and involved member of his Catholic church and was an avid sports fan who was especially faithful to his beloved Red Sox, but above all Brendan was devoted to his family.
He is survived by his brothers, Paul of Frederick, MD, Donald Jr. of Ocala, FL, Brian of Chapel Hill, NC, and John of Winston-Salem, NC; his sisters Deirdre Felton of Rockland, ME and Kathleen Vance of Tacoma, WA and his step-sister Ann Hoyt of Port Charlotte, FL; also several nieces and nephews.
Brendan was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church and attended St. Ann’s School in Hornell. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday (May 4) at St. Ann’s Church, Hornell. It was Brendan’s wish to be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery, beside his mother, in the town where he had spent some of his happiest years.
Arrangements are with the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell.

My deepest condolences to the Curran family from the Corbett families (Tom, Marcia, Kathleen, and Andy) who attended St. Ann’s with them while they lived in Hornell.
I am very sorry to see this news. My parents were very good friends of Don and Eleanor, and Deirdre and I both ended up at Oswego State.
My condolences to all your family.
Brendan T. Curran –
I was deeply sorry to learn of Brendan’s death. Although I am unable to attend his funeral, I will provide some of my memories of Brendan I would have loved to share with his siblings.
I became friends with Brendan in the early sixties as a result of our close family ties – my parents [the late David & Marie (Toni) Corner] were very good friends with Brendan’s parents [the late Donald & Eleanor Curran].
I remember spending long summers with Brendan at the Hornell Public Swimming Pool, riding bikes all over town, and playing baseball. We loved to sit and “people watch” on the Curran’s big front porch overlooking Erie Avenue. Brendan was always “upbeat,” and always looking for another adventure. I stayed with Curran’s in Lockport, and met his step-mother Jeanne and step-sister Ann. In Lockport, we were able to explore the Erie Canal and see what trouble we could cause with our new peashooters! Brendan’s dad got us to try a new breakfast treat, kidneys, and while I was polite and ate them – never again!
My last contact with the Curran family was at SUNY College at Oswego in the early seventies where I was a year or two behind Deirdre. Brendan’s sister Kathleen came to visit Deirdre and it was fun to catch up. My memories have faded with time, but reading Brendan’s obituary brought them all flooding back. Brendan – Please Rest in Peace.
My sympathies to the Curran Family. My father (the late Jim Hendee) worked at the Tribune with Mr Curran and I attended St Ann’s with Brendan. I enjoyed his friendship very much during our time at St. Ann’s.
