WANETA M. VanVOORHEES
COHOCTON-Waneta M. VanVoorhees, 77, of 10011 Cosgriff Hill Road, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning (April 26, 2010) at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.
She was born on June 8, 1932 in Cohocton at the same home she has resided in her entire life and was a daughter of the late Milfurd and Maude Mattoon VanVoorhees. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Norman VanVoorhees and her sister, Dorothy VanVoorhees.
Waneta enjoyed watching television and playing solitaire and when she was younger she loved to square dance.
Her family includes her brother, Lawrence “Jake” VanVoorhees of Cohocton ; also one niece and two nephews.
Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral and committal service will take place following calling hours at 7 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Daniel Pickering officiating. Interment will be in Mapleview Cemetery, Cohocton.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Cohocton Volunteer Ambulance.
Lawrence, we were sorry to learn of Waneta’s passing on . We used to enjoy her memory of birthdates and she always found the most amazing blackberries .
