On Sept. 12, 1970, he was married at the former St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hornell to his best friend and constant companion, the former Susan Kimball, who survives.
A resident of Hornell for most his life, Tom graduated from Hornell High School and served with the U.S. Army National Guard. Being tired of the traveling life he returned to Hornell and in 1970 he began his employment for the former Erie-Lackawanna Railway Company as a personal Injury Claim Agent as well as several other positions. After being transferred to Binghamton and Ohio, he and Sue returned to Hornell in 1977 and he worked with the railroad until 1989. Later, he obtained a position with the assessor’s office for the City of Hornell and was employed at City Hall for 15 years until his retirement in 2006.
A member of the council of the former St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hornell, Tom became a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell in 2007 and served as a member of the Vestry and the Finance Committee. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hornell Erie Railroad Federal Credit Union and a member of the Mustang Club. In his spare time he enjoyed woodcarving, boating, lawn work, gardening, antiquing and cruising in his Mustang.
His family includes his wife of 40 years, Sue; his son, Kristopher Jimerson of Plattsburgh; his daughter, Sara Beth (Francis) Jimerson- Giglio of Irvine, Calif.; his grandson, Tommy Jimerson; his three brothers, Roger (Sandra) Jimerson of Hornell, Gerald (Ellen) Jimerson of Port Richey, Fla. and Donald (Peg) Jimerson of Hornell; his sister, Shirley (Donald) Smith of Mitchellsville; his three brothers-in-law, Robert (Mary) Kimball of Hornell, David (Cathy) Kimball of Hornell and Steve (Wendy) Kimball of South Carolina; also his nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet his family at Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell where a service will take place in his memory at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Thomas Gramley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to either the Mercy Suite at St. James Mercy Hospital, 411 Canisteo St., Hornell, N.Y. 14843 or to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, 333 Mamaroneck Ave., #492, White Plains, N.Y. 10605 (www.carcinoid.org)

  10. I REMEMBER TOMMY WAY BACK IN THE 5Os WHEN HE WAS A CURLY HEADED CUTIE WITH A SPECIAL SMILE. I ALWAYS THOUGHT OF HIM AS BEING SO MUCH YOUNGER THAN ME INSTEAD IT IS ONLY 2 YRS. WE WERE ALL PART OF THE GANG OF LINCOLN ST. WE WERE ALL ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY. I HAVE ONLY SEEN TOM ONCE OR TWICE SINCE I GOT MARRIED AND MOVED AWAY IN 1957 AND WHEN I SAW HIS PICTURE A FLOOD OF MEMORIES CAME BACK. TO HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN, AND TO HIS BROTHERS WHO ALSO WERE PART OF OUR GANG AND TO ALL WHO KNEW HIM WE ARE SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.(WHEN I USE THE WORD GANG I MEAN IT IN A GOOD WAY) HE WAS A SWEET AND SPECIAL KID AND I’M SURE HE WAS THE SAME AS A HUSBAND AND FATHER.
