Sophie was unforgetabble, one of my first role models in the world of work. She was my supervisor when I worked in the development/fundraising office at The Salvation Army. She was a unique “boss” who managed with benevolence and motivated through her own stellar example. She was in high regard by all at “The Army” and made invaluable contributions to the organization. We kept in touch long after I’d moved to North Carolina and she’d retired. I marveled at her gentle intelligence, extensive travel and love of opera. True to form, she gladly provided a reference when my husband and I adopted our Chinese daughter, Lydia and sent generous gifts in Lydia’s infanthood. She was a dear friend, and, though in later years our communications waned, I will never forget her. A truly remarkable lady. Rest well, Sophie! We love you…
