ROSE F. LINEHAN

HORNELL-Rose F. Linehan, 65, of Sawyer Street, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 19, 2011) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, where she was taken after becoming ill at her home.
Born in Hornell on Dec. 4, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Gracone Fenti. On May 24, 1969, she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Dennis M. “Denny” Linehan who predeceased her six days earlier on Oct. 13, after 42 years of marriage. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Frank Fenti.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Rose was a graduate of Hornell High School and was employed for 32 years by the Steuben County Department of Social Services in Bath before retiring about six years ago.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church. She was also a former member of the Women of the Moose, Hornell Lodge No. 210.
Rose enjoyed reading but most especially she loved to spoil her grandchildren.
Her family includes her son, Matthew (Stephanie) Linehan of Hornell; her three grandchildren, Maria Santiago, Josiah Linehan and Lauren Linehan; her two sisters, Telena (“Bucky”) Brownell and Deborah Olds all of Hornell; her brother, Amilio Fenti of Savona; also her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the American Diabetes Assoc., 160 Allens Creek Road, Rochester, N.Y. 14618.
Arrangements are with the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell.
