Ronald E. Boone
HORNELL-Ronald E. Boone, 62, of McBurney Road, Town of Hornellsville, passed away unexpectedly late Tuesday evening (July 23, 2019).
Born in Hornell on May 13, 1957, he was a son of the late Earl and Doris (Pulver) Boone.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Ron was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1975. He also attended the University of Buffalo to study pre-law with the intention of becoming an attorney.
He began his 37-year railroad career with the Erie Railroad and retired as an engineer with Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway.
Ron was a member of the Hornell VFW Post No. 2250, the Hornell Amvets Post No. 245, the Hornell Association and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Southside Tavern.
A huge history buff, he also enjoyed riding motorcycles, travelling, riding throughout the countryside looking for wildlife and he especially loved to spend time at Keuka Lake where his family owned a cottage for many years.
His loving family includes his wife of nearly 21 years, Patricia “Patty” (Kemp) Boone, who he married at their home on McBurney Road on Aug. 22, 1998; one brother, Richard (Marjorie) Boone of Keuka Lake; one stepson, Nathan Brown (Morgan Yost) and their two children, Emilee and Waylon of Kimbolton, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Carol Kemp and sister-in-law, Christine Diaz, both of Hornell; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to serve the family of Ronald E. Boone.
There will be a celebration of Ron’s Life beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 3, 2019) at the Hornell VFW Post, 245 Canisteo St.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to their favorite charity.

  3. Ron’s Grandfather and my Grandfather were twins. I remember one family reunion at our picnic grove in Howard RD, PA. Ron was about 6 or 7. My Grandfather told him to pick up the branches in the picnic area. Ron spent the reunion cleaning up the grove. He entertained the family carrying big and small branches and logs.
