ROBERT L. FULLER

ARKPORT-Robert L. Fuller, 74, of 11 Brush St., (PO Box 116) passed away suddenly Saturday evening (Aug. 30, 2008) at the W.C.A. Hospital in Jamestown, where he was taken after becoming ill returning home from the Cleveland Air Show.
Born in North Hornell on April 15, 1934, he was a son of the late Willis and Evelyn Edmond Fuller. On Feb. 11, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Maureen L. Howe, at the First Presbyterian Church in Arkport, the Rev. Luther Cross officiated.
A life long resident of Arkport, Bob and Maureen have resided at their 11 Brush St. home since 1956. He graduated from Arkport Central School and following graduating he was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1953. He completed his basic training in New Jersey and later was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas before his honorable discharge in 1955 from the 4th Armored Division.
Before retiring in 1985 he was employed by New York Telephone for 30 years. After his retirement he established his own telephone business, RMF Telecom, doing installation and repair, before retiring in 1993.
Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arkport, a member of the Arkport Memorial American Legion Post, served for 13 years as a trustee for the Village of Arkport and also coached Little League Baseball.
In 1975 he received his private pilot’s license and co-owned a Cessna 182. He and Maureen enjoyed many hours of flying and vacationing until 1990 when he stopped flying for health reasons. They also enjoyed camping at camp sites in New York State and several other states. Most of their time in the spring, summer and fall was spent with their children, grandchildren and other family members at their land and pond called “The Hill” in the country outside of Arkport where they had good times have many fond memories. Since 2000 they have spent the winter months in Haines City, Florida.
His family includes his wife of 52 years, Maureen; his two children, Steven R. (Susan) Fuller of Fremont and Robin Fuller of Swain; his five grandchildren, Steven W. Fuller, Sarah Fuller, Leah Fuller, Samuel Reger and Anna Reger; his three step-grandchildren, Christopher Aumick, Zachary Aumick and Brittany Aumick; his brother, James (Rochelle) Fuller of Huntersville, NC; his brothers-in-law, William Pryor of Arkport and Michael (Jean) Howe of Bloomfield; his sisters-in-law, Mitzi McGarrigle of Newfield and Marilyn (Roy) Hynes of Cohocton; also his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Pryor.
Calling hours are from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Arkport, with the Rev. Steven Jewell officiating. Private interment will be in the Arkport Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Arkport, PO Box 6 , Arkport, NY 14807 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.

    Sincere condolences on your loss. We always enjoyed talking with Bob..especially the visits to your camp. He had a warm smile and a firm handshake that always made one feel welcome. Bob was his own man and lived life on his terms..he will be missed.
