RICHARD F. HARRIS II

HORNELL-Captured by God with no time for goodbyes on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, Richard Frederick Harris II joined our Lord.
Born in Hornell on September 11, 1982, and known to his family and friends as “Rich”, he leaves behind his best friend and wife, Elizabeth (Rose) Harris and four beautiful children, Logan (10), Lily (8), Carter (5) and Walker (1). There are no words to describe the loss of this beautiful man.
He left this world peacefully while visiting with his parents, Jeanette and Richard Harris who loved him deeply.
Rich graduated from Hornell High School where he was a varsity wrestler and went on to Alfred State College, graduating with a degree in Construction Management. He was employed as a private contractor and later went on to own and operate the Stomping Ground, providing hours of entertainment to hundreds of youth and adults in the Hornell and the surrounding communities. Most recently Rich was employed by the United States Postal Service.
Besides his wife, parents and children, he leaves behind his two sisters, Darcia (Chad) Bowman and Anna (Kurtis) Herlocher and his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Barbara Harris.
Although Rich was a Harris he was adored and loved beyond words by his in-laws, Jay and Judy Rose, Hildreth and Jani Volonts, Jessica Rose, Eric and Julie Rose, Erin Rose and Justine Rose. He was a fun and loving uncle to Eli and Gabby Herlocher, Jack, Max and Paige Bowman, Carson Pollizi and Evan Rose. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Eunice and John Brown.
Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. today (Sunday) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Relatives and friends are invited to meet his family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to a trust to be established at Steuben Trust Company, Attn: Chris Brewer, 1 Steuben Square, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Please make checks payable to Chris Brewer. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.

  1. Growing up on Collier St with Rich will always be some of my greatest childhood memories. Rich was always outgoing and fun to be around. Prayers to the Harris family during this difficult time.

  2. I have met Rich only a few times. He was always happy with a smile on his face. He was so happy to be a husband and father. He loved his family. So sorry for the Harris family loss.

  3. Will always remember Rich as he lived around the corner from me with his parents for awhile when we were young and then seeing him and his beautiful family out in the community. May God bless each and everyone of you. Prayers to you all through this most difficult time.
