RAYMOND P. RAHMLOW

NORTH HORNELL-Raymond P. Rahmlow, 86, formerly of Marick Park, passed away early Saturday morning (Nov. 8, 2014) at the Highland Living Center in Pittsford, after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on July 29, 1928, he was the youngest of 11 children born to the late Frank and Eleanor Rose Rahmlow. On July 24, 1953, he was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to the former Elizabeth “Betty” Boessneck, who predeceased him on June 9, 2012 after59 years of marriage. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his four brothers, Donald, Robert, Frank and William Rahmlow and his four sisters, Frances Wizeman, Virginia Wright, Margaret Rahmlow and Dorothy Andrews.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Ray was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1946. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to his honorable discharge in 1952.
From 1953 to 1975 he was employed as a plant supervisor for the former Corbin Wood Products in Hornell; in 1998 he retired from the former Hollands Lumber Company in Hornell.
Ray was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where he served as one of the original Eucharistic Ministers and was a charter member of the Holy Name Society. For several years he was also associated with St. Ann’s School Band. His other memberships include, the Hornell Council No. 243, Knights of Columbus, the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post No. 440 and was a former member of the Civil Service Planning Board for the City of Hornell.
Throughout his well-deserved retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren as well as the extended Rahmlow family. Their home was the center of many large family gatherings where he and Betty enjoyed hosting everyone. He had a lifelong enjoyment of collecting coins and spent many hours with his lawn work and flowers. He was a loving caregiver for his beloved Betty during her illness.
His loving family includes his four children, Raymond (Jane) Rahmlow of Honeoye Falls, James (Mary Kay) Rahmlow of Fairport, Christine Rahmlow of Fairport and Michael (Christeen) Rahmlow of Pittsford; his six grandchildren, Katie, Christopher (Alexandra), Greg, Jeff, Jackie and Kevin; his brother, M. Richard (Ann) Rahmlow of Hartford, Conn.; his sister, Marilyn Hawkins of Hornell; his sister-in-law, Mary egger of Rochester; also his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet his family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Hornell.
The United States flag and the Army flag will proudly fly at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in recognition of Ray’s military service during the Korean War.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Ray’s memory to St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
