MONA M. NASH

AVOCA-Mona M. Nash, 70, of Alexander St., passed away early Monday morning (Sept. 5, 2011) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.
Born in Bath on Nov. 16, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Mervin and Pearl Hemus Drake. On Jan. 26, 1957, she was married at the Avoca Methodist Church to Kenneth J. “Red” Nash, who predeceased her on Aug. 26, 1994, after 37 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her twin brother, Montie M. Drake.
Mona attended Avoca Central School and was employed at Westinghouse in Bath, the Gunlocke Co. in Wayland and St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell. She was also a long time Avoca Lady.
Mona loved to decorate her home and take trips to casinos.
Her family includes her brother and sister-in-law, Henry (Rozell) and Iona Drake of Bath; her four sisters, Mollie Stryker and Melissa Dunham both of Avoca, Bonnie Squires and Terry Ruiz both Chico, Calif.; her three sisters-in-law, Annamae Drake of Risingville, Patricia (Don) Towner and Richard (Dick) Nash; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her dear friend of more than 50 years, Joanie Buck of Bath and many other friends and neighbors.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours or services.
Arrangements are with the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca.

  2. We are truly sorry for your loss. We enjoyed having her as a neighbor. She always had a funny story to tell. We will miss exchanging holiday cards with her.

  3. Mona was a very beautiful and special person and was my brother, Red’s soulmate. Now they are together at last along with Montie.. I am glad she is not suffering.. Thoughts and sympathy go out to all her family…RIP Mona…

  4. I haven’t seen Mona in years but we used to have some nice visits. I was saddened to see that she had passed. As time passes, may your hearts heal. I am sure there are many memories that are out there. Sorry for your loss of a great lady.
