MICHAEL L. “MICKEY” DININNY
HORNELL -Michael L. “Mickey” Dininny, 65, of 7 Cook St., a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Sunday afternoon (Nov. 28, 2010) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
Born in Hornell on Oct. 17, 1945, he was a son of George Richard Dininny, who predeceased him and Blanche DeGraw Dininny, who survives. On Oct. 7, 1972, he was married in Brewster, New York to Margaret “Margie” Pedersen, who survives.
A life-long resident of Hornell, Mickey graduated from Hornell High School. He recently retired in September 2009 from the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in Hornell. He was previously employed with Hornell Tank and Pump, and as chief mechanic for Patton’s Busy Bee.
He was a self taught man who enjoyed carpentry, computers, photography, gardening, cooking, and especially barbecuing. Mickey was an enthusiastic traveler who also enjoyed water and snow skiing. Besides spending time with his family, Mickey’s favorite mode of relaxation was sitting on his front porch, “refreshment” in hand, watching the world go by.
His family includes his wife Margie of 38 years; his mother, Blanche Dininny of Hornell; his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Kate Dininny of the Town of Howard; his three grandchildren, Kaleb, Koralee and Karoline Dininny; his brother, Lawrence (Carol) Dininny of Indiana; his sister, Linda Clancy of Hornell; his aunt, Thelma Dinse of Webster; his uncle, Zeke (Carrie Jean) Dininny of Addison; his father-in-law, Robert Pedersen of Brewster; his three sisters-in-law, Ann (Bud) Nicoletti of Valhalla, Sue Rich of Danbury, Ct. and Roberta (Jeff) Peterson of Voorheesville; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his daughter, Kristen Dininny; his brother-in-law, Richard Clancy and his mother-in-law, Agnes Pedersen.
Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to either the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, N.Y. 13790 or to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning, Rd., Corning, N.Y. 14830. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.

I am very sad that Mickey is gone. I am happy he is at peace. I smile when I think of the fun we have had over the years and the great visit we had at this summer’s party in CT. The world has lost a great man. You will ALL be in our prayers.

I’m very sorry to have learned of Mick’s passing. I worked with Mick in the Kanona DOT shop for a number of years and always found him to be a great friend and co-worker.

Mick was the first member of the family that I met after I met Robbie; I give him my highest compliment – he was a regular guy. He’s going to be missed.
