Mary (Stratton) Sick

BATH – Mary went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on Saturday (March 16, 2024) surrounded by her husband, stepdaughter, grandchildren and pastor. She loved the Lord with all her heart.

She married Benjamin Sick on Aug. 21, 1971, a dear and loving husband. She was the daughter of George and Alta (Brewer) Stratton. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Richard, Charles, Jim and Eugene; sisters, Patricia Gowen and Barbara Stratton; and a son-in-law, Leonard Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Benjamin; brother, Robert Stratton; sister, Beverly Stratton; stepchildren, Cherry (William) Walker, Steve (Debbie) Zeh and Kim Smith; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

She worked as a hairdresser for many years and had many wonderful clients.

She enjoyed reading her bible. Her favorite bible verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Avoca serving as a teacher’s helper in the 3rd and 4th grade Sundy School class; working in the Awana program, VBS, serving on the Mission Committee and setting up for the seniors luncheon and serving as a greeter.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior on July 7, 1978 and was baptized at an older age.

Mary prayed daily that all her family would accept Jesus as their Savior. She wants to greet them when they come to heaven.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Avoca on Saturday (March 23, 2024). Friends and family may call from 2-3 p.m. with services immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mission Fund of the First Baptist Church of Avoca, PO Box Q, Avoca, NY 14809.

The Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., AVOCA is honored to assist Mary’s family with the arrangements.
