MARY MARGARET (PEG) (KUBIAK) PEASE
PAINTED POST/HORNELL-Mary Margaret (Peg) (Kubiak) Pease, 82, of Painted Post, formerly of Hornell, passed away Wednesday morning (Jan. 18, 2012) at Absolut Care at Three Rivers in Painted Post, after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on Jan. 18, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Angelica Donnelly Kubiak. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, John D. Pease on Sept. 4, 1967, her sister, Anne Jacobs and her brother, Robert Kubiak.
A graduate of Hornell High School, Peg also attended Alfred State College.
She was formerly employed as a paralegal for Shults & Shults in Hornell and Attorney Jerry Fowler in Alfred. She later was employed as a realtor, as a columnist for the Catholic Courier and also for the Steuben County Office for the Aging.
A resident of Painted Post for the past 23 years, Peg was a member of All Saints Parish and was a communicant of St. Vincent’s Church. She was also a member of the Choral Society in Elmira and was interested in politics and was a supporter of local SPCAs. An avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees, in her earlier years she also enjoyed snow skiing.
Peg will be remembered most for her love of her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Chris Brooks of Painted Post and their children, Christopher and Sarah Brooks; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Tina Waters and their son, Zachary of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Don Passmore of Corning and their son, Thomas; also her sister-in-law, Jean Kubiak of Hornell and several nieces and nephews.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of her family at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, N.Y. 14903 or to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, N.Y. 14843.

I had the honor and pleasure of caring for this wonderful lady while she was at Three Rivers. I soon discovered that under that tough exterior she tried to give us was a warm and loving person with a heart of gold. I will miss this special lady very much and remember her fondly.

I helped take care of Peg when she was in her own apartment for a short time. I spent xtra time visiting with her and bringing my dog to see her. She loved animals! I enjoyed the time visiting with her. She had a great sense of humor.Once you got to know her you couldn’t help but love her!
