  1. The Sheas were always like my 2nd family growing up. Spendt many hours at their house. She was always caring and visited my mother Rita after my father died. My mother Rita always loved hearing her play Chimes at the East Avenue Church. Mr. and Mrs. Shea were wonderful people.

  2. I knew leta when my family attended east ave. Methodist church. My children loved her and she loved them. She was a very gentle, loving woman.

  5. On behalf of the family of Leta Shea, I would like to thank everyone for their kind words. It is of great comfort to know that Mom is at this very moment in Heaven with Jesus.

  6. to the family of Leta…what a wonderful person I got to know through church. I am sorry could not make her services, but I had another funeral that day..but she was in my heart. I am sure she is rejoicing with Jesus and playing lots of music! Loved her a lot. God bless and comfort you all.

  7. I have so many fond memories of both Leta and Jud.
I first met them while working at McDonalds in the early 1980’s. Leta always had a pleasant word and a lovely smile while Judson was the strong silent type. They told me stories of how Jud worked with my grandfather at the Erie and how Leta was friends with my grandmother Lorraine Hover.
My favorite memory of Leta was a recent one. I had been visiting a member of our congregation at Hornell Gardens when I heard someone playing the piano. I looked in the room and saw Leta. I hadn’t seen her in years and she was as beautiful as ever! She invited me in and played Christmas carols for me. We reminisced and she updated me on her family. We had a wonderful visit!
It was less than 2 weeks later when I saw that she had passed. I smiled because I knew that she was with Jud again.
I feel so blessed that I knew them both and that I had the privilege of hearing her music and stories one last time.
I am sorry for your loss as she will truly be missed by those of us left behind.

  8. Just learned of her passing via a Christmas card from Jud and Pam. I too always felt Mrs. Shea to be a second Mom, though we moved away from Hornell when I was 7. Fondly remember the old Shea homestead, the tree house (which I fell from and had my cut hand soothed by Mrs. Shea with “salve”), the creek out back (catching my first polywogs), wading across the spillway that Mrs. Shea always warned Judilee and I was slippery! Loved her gentle way with kids and adults, and her requests for “humdingers”! Though we had infrequent contact, I will miss her and always hold a special place for all the memories we shared.
