LAURINE “LAURIE” HUGHES
AVOCA-Laurine “Laurie” Hughes, 60, passed away Wednesday morning (Aug. 14, 2013) at her home on County Route 6.
Born in Hornell on July 29, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Arlene Shibley Saxton. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother-in-law, Arnold Newman.
Laurie was employed as a LPN for the Bath V.A. Center and Pathways.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, walking, spending time with her grandchildren and playing with her puppy dogs.
Her surviving family includes her husband of 41 years, Mike Hughes, who she married on June 3, 1972; her son, Todd (Tawyna) Hughes; her daughter, Tammy (Daniel) Partridge; her grandchildren, Trey Lumley, Tristan Hughes, Brendon Hughes, Noah Hughes, Michaela Partridge and Marina Partridge; her siblings, Ronnie (Lin) Saxton, Sharon Newman and Roxanne (Cliff) Brazie; also her niece and nephews, Paula Bookmiller, Scott Newman, Jason Brazie and Derek Brazie.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Bill McFeaters of the Avoca Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Greenville Cemetery, Avoca.
