LARRY T. WHITING
AVOCA-Larry T. Whiting, 73, of South Main St., passed away early Wednesday morning (June 13, 2018) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath.
Born in Niagara Falls on Jan. 29, 1945 he was a son of the late Clifford and Emma (Rhinehart) Whiting. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his son, Mark Decker.
Larry attended Avoca Central School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy for four active years (1965-1969) and two inactive years.
He was employed for many years at the Gunlocke Co. in Wayland and retired as a truck driver for Refrigerator Food Express in Boston, Mass.
A member of the Avoca American Legion Post, Larry enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills.
His loving family includes his long-time companion, Bonnie Miller; his son, Mike (Sandra) Whiting of Georgia; his two grandchildren, Corinne (Kasey) Gribble and Nora Whiting; his great-grandson, Karter; his one sister, Patricia Hagerty of Sanibel, Fla.; his brother, William (Margery) Whiting of Avoca; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The Avoca Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Larry T. Whiting.
Calling hours are 10 a.m.-noon Saturday (June 16, 2018) at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at noon Saturday. Committal services and interment, with military honors, will follow at Vale of Rest Cemetery, Avoca.
