Joann Repass-Andersen

Joann Repass-Andersen, 77, passed away Monday afternoon (Aug. 20, 2018) at the Homestead in Penn Yan.

Born on Oct. 16, 1940 in Burkes Garden, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mildred (Sparks) Repass. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Renee’ Nicholson.

She was employed at General Motors (GM) and US West in Rocky Flats, Colorado.

Joann will be remembered for having a free spirit and for being a strong, independent woman who fought for the UAW Women’s Rights.

She worked very hard to take care of her children and was very giving to her family and friends. Joann loved life and nature, art and to travel. She thrived on knowledge and loved to teach it; she had many, many stories that will be carried on. Our Mom was one of a kind and will forever be in our hearts. “Love you Mom.”

Her loving family includes her three sons, James Nicholson, Ronald “Shane” (Veronica) Nicholson and Jason (Danita) Nicholson; as well as nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca is honored to serve the family of Joann Repass-Andersen.

To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

  1. I dont remember meeting you cousin as you were my dad’s Sam’s first cousin and he has been gone over 30 years. Recently having been working on family history, I knew my Great Uncle Jim and Aunt Milly had a child Joann, and now I find you are departed and I am sorry I didn’t look for you sooner. Too her family, feel free to reach out to me any time – and maybe some day you can introduce me to her through your stories – (585)481-0960 Call or text.
