JEANETTE I. LODATO

HORNELL-Jeanette I. Lodato, 96, passed away early Monday evening, Aug. 27 at her home at 40 Jane St.
Born in Hornell on June 30, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Larry and Angelina Massi Lodato. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her two brothers, Salvatore Lodato and Joseph Lodato; and her sister, Marian Moretti.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Jeanette attended the former Bryant and Columbian Schools as well as Hornell High School.
She began her employment with the former Huguets Silk Mill and retired because of a disability from Stern & Stern Textiles in Hornell in 1972 after 43 years of service.
Jeanette attended St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Hornell and was a former member of the Ladies of Columbus, the Italian-American Women’s Club and the Hornell Moose Lodge, No. 210.
An avid bowler, she also enjoyed crossed word puzzles and babysitting for her “granddog.”
Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joseph Bob of Hornell; her granddaughter, Stephanie (Rick) Gilbert of Freeport, Grand Bahamas; her nephew, Francis “Frank” Moretti; her three nieces, Patricia Lodato, Angela (Jeff) Wagner and Mary Beth (Ray) Mazzella as well as several cousins and her “granddog”, Chuckie.
Calling hours are from 3-5 p.m. Friday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held in her memory following calling hours at 5 p.m. Friday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Hornell at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either EISEP Office for the Aging, 3 E. Pulteney Square, Bath, N.Y. 14810 or to Home & Health Care Services, Inc., P.O. Box 250, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
