Jack Wood

Jack Wood, born on April 22, 1926 passed away at home on Wednesday, Oct 26, 2021 and went home to be with Jesus and his beloved wife, Kathryn.

He is predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Edith Wood; brother, Richard; sister, June, and his wife, Kathryn. He is survived by two brothers, Roger of Bath NY and Lauren of Corning NY; two sisters, Betty Berl of Rochester NY and Shirley Armstrong of West Yellowstone, MT; nieces and nephews, Michael Lauren Wood, Michael David Wood, Cary Wood, Bruce Wood, Margaret Depew Thompson, Carol Depew Owens, Annette Butts, Sharon and Karen.

Jack attended the one room school house in Wayne, NY and later completed his GED. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp at the age of 18 serving during WW II from July 1944-July 1946. Upon leaving the Army Jack returned to Wayne, NY and married his beloved Kathryn. He was a member of the Bath Baptist Church, the Lamoka Lodge No. 463 F&AM in Tyrone, NY, and the Meade Price American Legion Post No.1208 in Wayne, NY.

Jack worked at Dresser Rand until he retired, then he worked at the Phillips plant in Bath NY as a security guard. He volunteered at the Bath Veterans Hospital and was recognized for his service of over 500 hours. Jack served at Bath Baptist Church as Treasurer for many years.

Jack always wore a smile and was ready for a good gab fest. He never met a stranger he didn’t like. No matter where you met him, he would know your name and life history before you parted. He especially enjoyed his Dunkin Donut buddies and going out to Three Wishes with his friend Bob Bussman for breakfast.

Jack’s service will take place Sunday (Nov 7, 2021). Calling hours 2-3 p.m., service at 3 p.m., family meal afterwards at Bath Baptist Church in Bath, NY.
