Gordon L. Havens

WALLACE – On Sunday (March 24, 2024) Gordon L. Havens, loving husband and father of seven children passed away at home, peacefully surrounded by family, at the age of 92.

Gordon was born on Sept. 28, 1931 in Naples, NY to Howard and Margaret (Wheaton) Havens. He graduated in 1949 from Livonia, NY. He was in the service from 1950 to 1953 and was stationed in Schwabach, Germany. He was a commissioner and member of the Wallace Fire Department for 44 years. Gordon worked at Stromberg Carlson, General Dynamics and Mercury Aircraft. He retired in 1993. On Nov. 17, 1964 he married Patricia A. Towner and was married for 59 years.

Gordon loved to go to get coffee and breakfast every morning and loved to take his grandchildren with him. He liked to take vacations and travel, spending time with his family, going to watch the races in Dundee and Woodhull with his brother and family. He enjoyed sitting at his table and watching the birds feasting from his many bird feeders. He enjoyed the outside and mowing the lawn. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage with his son, Gordon.

Gordon is survived by his beautiful wife, Patricia Havens; daughter, Kim Willis; son, Michael Havens; daughter, Kelly (Terry) Burns; daughter, Jane Havens, daughter, Jackie (Chris) Hudson; daughter, Judy Havens; and son, Gordon (Brenda) Havens; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Margaret Havens; brother, Stuart (Eliza) Havens; grandson, Justin Willis.

A private graveside service is planned for the family.
