Edgewater, Fla Gary “Snake” Flaitz, 61 of Edgewater, Fl passed away Saturday November 21st, 2009 in Florida. He was born in North Hornell and moved to Florida in 1969 and has remained there ever since.
Snake was a graduate of Hornell High School in 1966 and of Alfred State College in 1968 majoring in Electrical Engineering. Snake was an ASE Certified automotive mechanic and worked for Maurice’s Shell in Edgewater for many years.
Snake was pre-deceased by his father, Jack Flaitz. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 31 years, Charlene; his children, Tom Harris, Theresa Lemme and Carolyn Flaitz; two grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Flaitz of Hornell; his brothers, Mark and Jack Flaitz, both of Florida and Philip Flaitz of Newburgh, NY; his sister, Sue Kerber of IN; along with many nieces and nephews. Snake will be remembered for his love of life and his many friends as anyone that met him immediately liked him.
A celebration of Snake’s life will take place at 3:00 pm Friday November 27th at the Bella Vista Baptist Church, 3232 S. Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater, FL with Pastor Keith McCall officiating. In lieu of flowers, Snake’s family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 21475, St. Petersburg, FL 33742. Local arrangements have been with the Bishop and Johnson Funeral Home, Hornell.
