HAMMONDSPORT – Frances M. Marroquin, of Hammondsport, NY and Tawas City, MI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Born October 4, 1932 in McKeesport, PA she was the daughter of the late Carmen and Benita Mendez. Her life was a testament to her generous and loving spirit that was felt by all who knew her.

Together they opened a Mexican restaurant in Oscoda, MI. They successfully opened multiple locations until they retired and sold the last restaurant in the late 1990’s. They generously supported the communities in which they lived, volunteering to help the poor and youth organizations through the Moose Lodge and other civic clubs. Frances loved to read, sew, and paint. She was a talented artist and often made Halloween costumes and quilts for her grandchildren.
