FLORENCE (REYNOLDS) MARCELLO
HORNELL-Florence (Reynolds) Marcello, 85, of Hornell, passed away early Tuesday morning (March 6, 2012) at her home at 71 Church Street Court.
Born in Hornell on Feb. 22, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Annabel Drake Norton. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Edward Reynolds on Feb. 18, 1979; her four sisters, Isabel Houghtaling, Dora Waight, Ruth Conkey and Martha Nichols and her two brothers, Raymond Norton and Paul Norton.
A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Florence attended Hornell High School and was employed by the former Marion Rohr Co., the Hornell Bowl and as a waitress at The Big Elms Restaurant in Hornell for 21 years before her retirement.
Florence will be remembered for being very active and enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing volleyball (up to the age of 70), fishing with her husband and doing arts and crafts.
She was a member of the Hornell Association and the Twin Hickory Golf Club in Hornell.
Her family includes her husband, Alexander “Alex” Marcello, who she married in Canaseraga in 1980; her five children, Karol Lockwood of Chicago, Ill., Alan Reynolds (Kathy Chiarilli) of Hornell, Scott (Laura) Reynolds of Dallas, TX., Debbie (Tony) Sciotti of Hornell and Kelly (Kathy) Reynolds of Hornell; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her two sisters, Marilyn Cotton of Hornell and Carolyn Norton of Florida; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. A service will be held in her memory at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Chaplain Daniel Slattery of Southern Tier Hospice officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Parkway, Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
