Pulteney – Elaine Niles Gibson 79, passed away on July 6, 2026 with loved ones by her side.

Born in Eaton, N.Y to the late Robert and Doris (Whipple) Niles on October 22, 1946.

Elaine attended Morrisville College and then later came to reside in Pulteney, N.Y where she met and married the love of her life Jerry “Hooter” Gibson in March 69.

Elaine continued to reside in Pulteney after “Hooters” passing on September 9, 2004.

She was a loving family member and had close bonds with precious friends.

In 2012 Elaine moved to Chapel Hill, Tennessee where she remained until her passing, during which she made many summer trips to visit her Pulteney family and friends.

In the end it was those precious friends that made the trip to see her ~ Peggy, Lizzie, Jane Sharon, Marva and Jeannie ~ remember the lifetime memories you all have made will never be forgotten.

Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Dorothy (Whipple) Niles – Husband, Jerry “Hooter” Gibson, Brothers and sisters along with their spouses of the beloved Gibson family and her sister Kathleen Niles Soucey.

Survived by her brother Robert Niles, her daughter Janice (Robert/ Pidj Schuck, her son Vince (Kara) Gibson, Grandchildren: Justyn and Jordan Schuck, Erica (Brandee) Lemcke, Chancey (Morgan) Smithson, Great grandchildren Izayah, Addi-Kay, Weston and a great-great grandson Zayden who affectionately referred to her as Gram or Gigi.

Calling hours will be held at Bishop and Desanto Funeral Home, 35 Main Street, Hammondsport, on Saturday, July 18, 2026 between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, with a funeral service at 1:00 PM. 

Following the service there will be a burial at Glenview Cemetery, Pulteney, New York. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to Gentiva Hospice 830

    You made one beautiful Christmas morning into a long lasting
    memory of you and your family. Tied to you all one way or another
    I was blessed one miserable day when you and Peg gave me your gift of caring, your abilities of wound healing, physically and emotionally.
    Even tying grapes and cutting when they were ripe you made the days go faster and funnier.
    I will not forget the love and kindness you’ve shown me over the years.
