DOROTHY I. ALSHEIMER
AVOCA-Dorothy I. Alsheimer, 84, of Avoca, died Thursday (April 24, 2008) at Taylor Health Center in Bath.
Born in the Town of Cohocton on Aug. 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Viola Snyder Shelley. She was married in Elkland Pa. on June 12, 1948 to Edward V. Alsheimer, Jr. who predeceased her in 2005 after 57 years of marriage.
Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed collecting cookbooks and salt and pepper shakers.
Her family includes her five daughters, Sandra (Richard) Mosher and Eugenia (Daniel) Mosher all of Tempe, Az., Melissa Wilson (David Brewer) of Hornell, Shelley (John) Latta of Dansville and Darlene (Gerald) Eldridge of Nunda; her 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Doris Kromer of Avoca; her brother-in-law, Walter Alsheimer of Avoca; also her many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at 12 noon Tuesday, with Pastor William Spencer officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at the Bath National Cemetery.
