DONALD WILLIAM COOPER
AVOCA-Donald William Cooper, 66, of Avoca, died Friday (June 27, 2008) at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Donnie was a proud farmer, especially when driving a John Deere tractor. He has now gone home to be with his Lord.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Gladys (Bates) Cooper; sisters, Mary Robords and Doris Rector and brother, Harold “Pete” Cooper, Jr.
He is survived by his loving companion of 27 years, Mollie Drake Stryker; sons, Randy Cooper and Chris Cooper; daughters, Deborah Stone, Christina Chapman and son-in-law, Doug Stryker, Jr.; special grandson, Storm Chapman; three other grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and special friend, Doug Stryker, Sr.; brothers and sisters, Francis “Bud” and Dorothy Cooper, Robert “Bob” and Mary Cooper, Bernice and Jim Worden, Richard “Dick” and Marilyn Cooper, Sally Hughes, Judy and Terry Zeh, Linda and Jeff Gardner, Betty and Robert Fisher; sister-in-law, Norma Cooper; brother-in-law, Orrin Robords and an aunt, Bernice Osborn.
A special thank you to nephew, Chad Burnham for all the love and care he gave to his uncle. Special thanks also to Donnie’s second adopted family, Bill and Nancy Slayton.
There will be a memorial service at a later date for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mollie to help cover expenses, or to Southern Tier Hospice, Guthrie Cancer Center in Corning, also the SPCA in Bath.
Arrangements are with the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca.
Donnie was always the first to volunteer to help with any project around the house and knew how to build or fix anything…We will always hold his thoughtfulness in our hearts and he will always be remembered…we miss u papa…
