Crystal Marie Newman-Nicholson

Crystal Marie Newman-Nicholson, 43 of Hammondsport, NY sadly left us suddenly on Saturday November 4th, 2023.

Crystal was born on May 27, 1980, to Frederick and Bonnie Newman in Corning. She graduated from
Hammondsport Central School with the Class of 1998. She went on to earn her associate degree with a focus in early childhood education at Corning Community College.  She continued her education at Keuka College and achieved her bachelor’s degree in social work.

Crystal spent her entire life helping others. She worked at ProAction, Steuben
County Collab, Catholic Charities and Arbor Housing. Most recently, she took her career back to her roots. She became a shining light back in the hallways and classrooms of Hammondsport Central School. She gained many friends and won the hearts of so many littles during this time.  She was so excited to share her days at the same place as her son, nieces, and nephews.  Her heart was so full.  She truly lived her entire life to the fullest.

Growing up there was never a dull moment in the house knowing what her and her twin sis, Laurie, were up to. Freddy and Sherri spent so much time teaching her and her sister about the world, playing dress-up, doing hair, playing outside, working on cars.  Crystal grew up with so many cousins that loved her (so many Sundays at Grandma and Grandpa Shoe’s).  She gained so many lifelong friends at home at mom’s daycare.  Over the years, she was able to keep in touch with so many childhood friends. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and watching them grow. She loved with her entire heart which she got from her parents.

Crystal loved Ryan dearly.  They spent 17 years together and share so many memories, including their children, Grace and Alex.  Most recently, she loved being outdoors, going to the movies with her children, car shows with her parents or cheering on her nieces and nephews at their sporting events. Her family was her heart and soul, but Grace and Alex were her universe. Family meant everything to her. She had a smile that could light up any room and one of the purest hearts imaginable.  Crystal will be truly and deeply missed by so many.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Gerald and Helen Shoemaker and Milt and Doris Newman.
She is survived by her children Grace Newman and Alexander Nicholson; husband Ryan Nicholson; parents Frederick and Bonnie Newman; in-laws Cathy and Rick Nicholson; sister Sherri Robords; brother Frederick Newman (Monica) and her twin sister Laurie Mault (Rick). Her brother-in-law Corey (Kecia) Nicholson. Her nieces Toshia Townsend (Tim), Emmaline Fairbrother (Lucas), Sarah Newman-Ross (Collin), Haley Newman and Anna Newman-Slocum (Corey).  Her nephews Derek Robords (Ashley), Lucas Robords, Adam Mault, Joshua Mault, and Barrett Nicholson . Her great-nieces Brylynn, Everleigh, and Kennedy. Her great-nephews Shane, Kaleb, Tanner, Kace, Silas, Colt, Leo, Chase, Cooper, and Walker.
