Claire Marie Weyand

Claire Marie Weyand (23) of Hornell left this earth too soon on Wednesday April 10, 2024, at St. James Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Claire was born to Linda and David Weyand at St. James Hospital on June 7, 2000. She was predeceased by her sister, Brooke Nicole; maternal grandfather, William Wintemute, Sr. and paternal grandparents, Karl and Marjorie Weyand.

Claire was a charismatic redhead who loved dogs, dance, and nature. She loved meeting new people and exploring new places. Claire had a bubbly personality and spirit that was infectious to others around her. Claire always wanted to make sure everyone felt loved and included.

Claire’s strength and tenacity were truly remarkable. After graduating from RIT with a degree in Communications, she dedicated herself to advocating for inclusion and accessibility. Her efforts aimed to ensure that all community spaces were welcoming and accessible to everyone, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.

The Double H Ranch is a place very close to Claire’s heart. Claire blossomed at the camp, designed specifically for children with life-altering illnesses. She created lasting friendships and connections that she valued throughout her life.

  3. Claire you are so missed! You are truly a wonderful soul, so courageous and full of energy. I am amazed at your life, having been faced with such adversity yet having a smile throughout. Wow. I can only hope to have half of your tenacity in my own life moving forward. I find it so unfair that you were taken from this world so soon. As your big cousin, if I could have words with the person who makes such choices I would! I would tell them to find someone else, someone who does not dance, even when their legs work. Who does not backflip in the front yard, even when they are not scared. And I would tell them to pick someone else, anyone else, who is not my beautiful little (favorite) cousin. I am so saddened by your passing, and tearfully hope that you continue to dance, backflip, and be merry wherever you may be; even if it’s not in this world with me.

Love from your Big Cousin Eric T.
