CATHERINE “KATE” NAZAR
HORNELL-Catherine “Kate” Nazar, passed away unexpectedly Thursday (May 12, 2011) at her home on East Avenue in Hornell.
Born in Hornell, in the same home she passed away in, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Anne Belas Nazar. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Olga Nazar and Mary Englert, her sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Jack Koskie; her three brothers, Michael Nazar, John Nazar and William Nazar; also her niece-in-law, Gloria Koskie.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Kate was a graduate of Hornell High School and cared for her younger brothers and sisters after the death of their parents.
She was employed at the former Erie Railroad Accounting Bureau and the former Royce Shop in Hornell as well as being employed by a local attorney before she began her employment with the Hornell Erie Federal Credit Union.
Kate was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell.
She loved to spend time flower gardening.
Her family includes her sister-in-law, Carol Nazar of Ohio; also her nieces and nephews including, Gregory (Linda) Koskie of Macedon, William Koskie of Hornell and Pamela (Roy) Forshee of Canisteo; her great-nieces, Michelle (David) Hulse, Kirsten Koskie, Tasha Koskie, Leah Koskie, Tara (Andy) Phelps, Kari (Derek) Koskie-Jersey and Breilla Kelleher; also her great-great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell where a prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
