BEVERLY A. (BUONO) EVELAND
HORNELL-Beverly A. (Buono) Eveland, 74, of East Ave., passed away early Thursday afternoon (Sept. 20, 2012) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell, after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on Oct. 21, 1937, she was a daughter of the late John and Virginia Rich Buono. On Nov. 5, 1955, she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Thomas R. Eveland who survives
A life long resident of Hornell, Beverly attended St. Ann’s School and Hornell High School.
She was employed for 17 years as a School Crossing Guard at the Bryant School in Hornell. She also worked part-time as a cook at the Sunset Inn, but most of her time was dedicated to raising her family.
Beverly was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. She was also a former member of the Italian-American Women’s Club and Twin Hickory Golf Club.
Some of her favorite pastimes that she loved to do were playing golf and fishing with her husband.
Her family includes her husband of nearly 57 years, Tom; her five children, Patricia (Gerry) Flaitz of Hartsville, Dr. Virginia Shephard of Hornell, Thomas M. (Deanna) Eveland of Boise, Idaho, Marlene (Michael) Sullivan of Bath and Mark Eveland of Hornell; her 13 grandchildren, Gerry (Jessica) Flaitz of Hornell, Eric (Nicole) Flaitz of Hilton, Anthony Eveland of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lesley Shephard of Rochester, Brianne Eveland of Hornell, Paul Shephard III of Almond, Sara Eveland of Boise, Idaho, Meghan Eveland of Bath, Brendan Eveland of Hornell, Connor Eveland of Hornell, Ciara Cuesta of Almond, Colin Eveland and Cameron Eveland both of Hornell; her six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Olivia and Derek Flaitz all of Hornell, Mason Flaitz of Hilton, Fayth Williams of Bath and Tegan Eveland of Hornell; her sister, Norma Maglier of Hornell; her two brothers, Lawrence (Blanche) Buono of Florida and John (Nancy) Buono of North Carolina; as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her sister, Gail Lonsberry.
Calling hours are from 3-6 p.m. today (Sunday) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
