AUDREY E. GUINANE

HORNELL-Audrey E. Guinane, 85 of Hornell, passed away early Thursday morning (Dec. 3, 2015) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell, where she has resided since 2012.
Born in Hornell on Dec. 10, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (McKibben) Belts. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husbands, Richard E. Morrissey in 1988 and Richard M. Guinane in 1993 and her five sisters, Virginia Stevens, Ruth Borden, Helen Tanner, Camilla Fisher and Pearl Stephens.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Audrey was a graduate of Hornell High School. She was formerly employed at S.K.F. Industries, the Robert A. Sweeney Agency, New York Telephone and retired from St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.
Audrey was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Loyola Church and later at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell, where she served as an Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Hornell Family YMCA and the St. James Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
The most enjoyable times of her life were those that she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Her loving family includes her four sons, Richard (Kathy) Morrissey of San Diego, Calif., Michael (Valerie) Morrissey of Philadelphia, Pa., Mark (Kathy) Morrissey of Hornell and Joseph (Kristin) Morrissey of Cummings, Ga.; her three daughters, Kathleen (Daniel) Likarish of Englewood, Colo., Elizabeth Morrissey of Canandaigua and Margaret (Daniel) Purcell of Centennial, Colo.; her three stepsons, Matthew (Cathy) Guinane of Nassau, N.Y., Timothy (Lauren) Guinane of Irondequoit and Martin (Martha) Guinane of Baltimore, Md.; her four stepdaughters, Kathleen (Robert) Guinane of Gaithersburg, Md., Connie (Norm) Ellis of Hornell, Corinne (Philip) Wightman of Irondequoit and Mary Pat (Mark) Keller of Rochester; her 14 grandchildren, Brian, Ben, Peter, Tim, Theresa, Aaron, Caitlin, Christopher, Rebecca, Amy, Mackenzie, Sydney, Emma and Aiden; her three great-grandchildren, Torsten, Audrey and Aria; her 16 step-grandchildren; her 16 step-grandchildren, Kevin, James, Molly, Griffin, Audrey, Benjamin, Megan, Maxwell, Micah, Murphy, Carlie, Kendre, Alexandra, Tyler, Nora and Erin; also many nieces and nephews.
The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Audrey E. Guinane.
Calling hours are 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to Steuben County Rural Ministry, P.O. Box 61, Canisteo, N.Y. 14823, the Hornell Family YMCA, 18 Center St., Hornell or to St. Ann’s Academy, P.O. Box 446, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.

  1. Audrey was such a sweet lady, she always had a smile on her face. Always a nice word to say. I wish I could have know her better. My mom spent some time with Audrey in the past and she still shares the stores of the time they spend together. They would laugh and share past experiences. She is very thankful she did get a chance to know her even if it was for a short time.
