  1. Very fond memories of Mrs. Edwards during high school. Best teacher, taught me how to make white sauce, pie crust and how to iron! just to name a few.

  2. She was a great teacher, especially to have taught me. And to think I am a teacher of now 30 years. My last time with her was 10 years ago, I knocked on the farm house door, but she didn’t hear me. so I went to the window, she then came to the door, we had a great visit, tea and toast. She said she never wanted to be this old and LOOK she went another ten years God Bless her and her family. And she would be proud of me that I am teacher of the year for Augusta Technical College.

  3. I remember Anna as always caring for others! This I witnessed as one of her homemaking students in the 50’s. She encouraged my Dad Don Julien by her calls, visits and the many letters she wrote to him after our Mom passed away. She was one of a kind, wish there were more like Anna Jones Edwards. My Dad called her Miss Jones as he had her in his Senior year in high school.

  4. There are 2 specification memories I have..one was her frustration that I peeled potatoes too small…” are you going to leave any to cook?” nd her husband & my Dad hunted together s& he asked me if I would ever marry a Fox Hunter & I said ” no way ” because they were never home!” She thought that was a hoot. Dad told many stories about the family…even remembering when she came to Avoa. A much loved & respected faculty member. Peace be with all her loved ones.

  5. ANNA WAS MY DAD, DON JULIEN’S TEACHER AND I WAS IN HER STUDY HALL IN THE LATE 50’S. SHE WAS A KICK. SHE USED TO TELL ME THAT I WAS JUST LIKE MY FATHER. HAD THE PRIVILEDGE OF GOING TO BREAKFAST AT THE RED GOOSE WITH ANNA, DAD, LEM MORRELL AND THE WARNERS MORE THAN ONCE. WHAT A GREAT LADY. WE ALL LOVED HER.

  6. Anna Edwards was a remarkable lady. She taught me so many wonderful things. Among them, one stands out that I would love to share with her family and friends. She taught me to keep a secret. One day a few years back (not really certain how many) I heard a car horn beeping in front of my house so I looked out and there was Anna. She motioned to me to hurry and I thought something was wrong with her. I got to her car and she handed me a loaf of warm fresh-baked bread wrapped in foil. She said “Please don’t tell my family that I was here because I am not supposed to be driving”. She added “Let this be our little secret”. Everytime we got together, we spoke of this day and laughed.Until this day, I kept this secret as I promised her. She was so special to me.

  7. Rest in Peace Mrs. Edwards. Thank you for teaching me to make the best baking powder biscuits, yellow cake & white sauce ever! I still use these tried & true recipes regularly(and I have my children to make also.) My fondest memories of Avoca School are from the Homemaking house.

  8. I loved Anna Amelia as my mom Judy did. She helped me in the passing of mom and I will greatly miss her in our familes lives.
