AJ loved to snuggle and always enjoyed being the center of attention and was often considered a “ham” ; and in school, he was sometimes known as the “class clown.”
A math whiz, he especially enjoyed playing cards and video games; and he also liked to go camping and swimming.
His family includes his father and stepmother, Jeremy and Kim Berg of Hornell; his mother, Kimberly Gilbert Berg (David Price) of Canisteo; his brother, Tyler Berg of Hornell; his two step-brothers, Tyler Mosher and Joe Hollar both of Hornell; his step-sister, Amber Hollar of Canisteo; his paternal grandparents, Betty Berg of Hornell and Larry Berg of Florida; his maternal grandparents, Betty and Kenneth Gilbert of Bath; also his aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Committal services and interment will follow at Rural Cemetery, Hornell.

A.J. was the longest tenured child in our day care program. For the last 5 years we have welcomed him into our home with open arms. He never failed to put a smile on our faces or entertain us in some way. I cant imagine our program ever having such a great dancer as he was. We will miss you forever. Love,
I will always think about the fun times we’ve had. you are always in my heart
We enjoyed Alec’s company. He made us laugh with his “card game antics”. God must have needed a nine year old boy
who loved to play cards. God be with you Alec.
Alec – We are sure going to miss your smile and all the good times you brought to all of us at the Camp just known we will never forget you we send our Love.
HOW TRAGIC A LITTLE BOY AND SO YOUNG. EVEN THO I DIDN’T KNOW HIM HE HAD BEEN IN MY GRANDSONS CLASS AND HE WILL BE MISSED. MY PRAYERS WITH HIS FAMILY . GOD BLESS ANITA SLOCUM
I will remember Aj as a little brother to me. The memory of Aj that will stick with me for ever is the little cousin arguments that we would have over just little things from a flavor of pop to a video game but in a way to me they mean something, even though me and Aj show that we love for each other we still love each other. The thing i will remember about Aj the most is that when I was around he had a big smile on his face and put one on everyone around him.
oh AJ you will always be Austins “best Bud” and will forever remain in our hearts! All the fun times the two of you shared will continue to be fond memories for both him and I! Thank you for always making us smile a little bit bigger! We love you…Lisa and Austin
