Jesse was born June 15, 1925, in Tyrone, NY, to the late Ralph & Nellie (Soles) Alderman. He grew up on the family farm, which instilled him with his love of the land and farming. He took great pride in raising beef cattle, growing gardens, tending to fruit trees and berries, along with providing friends and family with fresh eggs and honey.
Jesse received his education from a one room school in Wayne, N.Y. He had many fond memories of that experience and to this day-maintained contact with a fellow classmate who resides in Alaska.
Jesse proudly served in the United Sates Air Force from 1946, until he was honorably discharged in 1948. Stationed in Anchorage, Alaska as a Control Tower Radio Operator during World War II. He often spoke of how beautiful Alaska is.
On May 21, 1949, he married Evelyn Clark, who predeceased him on December 25, 1998. They then raised their loving daughter and son.
Jesse retired from the Taylor Wine Company, Hammondsport, as the Head of the Champagne Department. Prior to that he worked at the GLF, was an officer with the Bath Police Department, and was a deputy sheriff with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.
Jesse loved to bake, and many will remember having some of his famous home baked pies, especially his elderberry pie! He always had a positive attitude and was a loving family man. Often referred to as the “go to guy” by many of his friends and family, who benefitted from his wisdom and life experience. In the words of a friend, “he was a great man!”
He is survived by his loving son Terry (companion Mary) Alderman; daughter, Michele (John) Wagner; sisters-in-law, Stella Clark and Joyce Clark; and many nieces and nephews.

Uncle Jess you will always be in our hearts. Your years of guidance, wisdom and love will be cherished by us and everyone you knew.
My condolences to Michele, John and Terry and all the family during this difficult time. Sending hugs and love.
Uncle Jess was a part of my life for over 70 years an honorable man of great knowledge and intellect.
His wisdom exceeded his many years, his kindness was shared freely. People spoke well of him, he will be missed.
I think of the childhood times I spent with him and Evelyn, fond memories. Terry, Mick and I played as children and we knew there were limits, he was never really hard on me he just didn’t cut me any slack, which helped me later in life.
Recent memories are of the times spent on the porch in the morning drinking coffee, me Jess and the dog. Neighbors and friends dropping by to ask for guidance or just to say hello. Good times, good guidance and good company. Will miss those times for many years to come.
Jesse we will miss you. The kids often talk about visiting you on Halloween when they we little. I wish you could have met my youngest. Rest in peace and fly high.
To a man I called Uncle but was so much more. He has been idol since I was a little girl. A pretty wife and a nice big house. I always thought he was a superhero farming and working @ Taylor wine. He has always had a place in my heart and he always will. I know he will be truly missed. He is now with his beautiful wife again. May we always remember the happiest of times when we are the lowest, experience talking. I love you Uncle Jesse and truly am going to miss our little talks.
Sincere condolences to all of Jessie’s family, neighbors and friends. We only came to visit my brother once or twice a year, and always looked forward to visiting with Jessie & his dog (next door). He will be missed by many, RIP Jessie 🙏🏻
