Donald J. McAfee
January 29, 1937 – August 7, 2022
WAYNE – Donald J. McAfee passed Sunday (August 7, 2022) surrounded by family. Donald was born January 29, 1937, to Harold and Fannie McAfee in Wayne, NY.
After serving in the Army from 1960 to 1962, he returned to Wayne where he met his wife, Janet L. (Corell) McAfee, who predeceased him in 2012. They married on November 24, 1962 and made their home in Wayne.
Donald is survived by three children, Larue (Jo’el) McAfee, Todd (Gail) McAfee, Louise McAfee and his daughter in-law, Stacy McAfee; his grandchildren Evan (Brandy) McAfee, Kane (Jennifer) McAfee, Leslie (Lisa) Hutchinson, Dennis (Jennifer) Hutchinson, Tim (Sara) Hutchinson; great-grandchildren Hayden, Maxton, Hailie, Nick, Abbie (James) and Matthew; brother David (Mary) McAfee; brother-in-laws Erwin Robinson and Gary Corell.
Besides his parents and his wife, Donald was predeceased by his son, James D. McAfee and sister, Joan Robinson.
Donald retired from Dresser Rand after over 40 years. He is a lifetime member of the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department, where he served over 50 years. He is also a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Moose Club.
Donald loved sitting on his front porch and greeting his neighbors as they went by.
Calling hours are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday (August 11, 2022) at the Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport, where a funeral service will take place following calling hours at 1 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Barre Butts officiating. Committal service and interment, with fire department and military honors, will follow at McDowell Cemetery, Wayne, NY.

Im sorry to hear about your dad passing, Ive known him sense I was I was little, the passing of a parent is never easy
So sorry for your loss.
It’s so sad to learn of this recent McAfee death. I know Don will be missed by his large family and I hope they know how proud he was of all of them. We always looked as we passed the house on the corner to see if Don was sitting there- and he often was!
