Anthony Michael “Duges” Dugo
HORNELL-Anthony Michael “Duges” Dugo, 52, passed away peacefully Sunday (July 10, 2022) at his home on Erie Avenue, after a recent illness.
Born in North Hornell on Aug. 26, 1969, he was the son of the late Nicholas Dugo, who predeceased him on May 3, 2017, and Nancy (McCollumn) Dugo, who survives.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Anthony was a graduate of Hornell High School class of 1989. As a youth, he was involved with the Grasshoppers, Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball and was formerly employed by The Evening Tribune, Stop N Shop and TTA in Hornell.
Anthony was a member of the Carducci Lodge in Hornell and loved to fish and he especially enjoyed music and liked to grow his own peppers, the “hotter the better.” He will be remembered most of all for being a “diehard” Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He is lovingly survived by his mother, Nancy Dugo (fiance’, John Congelli) of Hornell; one brother, Nicholas Dugo of Hornell; three half-sisters, Julie Truslow, Aubrey Dugo and Kati Smith; three aunts, Kathy (John) Capluzzi of Hornell, Donna Dugo of Canandaigua and Alberta “Bertie” Dugo of Florida; as well as many cousins and friends.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Donald and Ann Dugo and maternal grandparents, Donald and Winifred McCollumn.
Calling hours are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday (July 18, 2022) at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will take place following calling hours at 1 p.m. Monday. Committal services and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Hornell High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 135, Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
The Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home is honored to assist Anthony’s family with the arrangements.

Sorry to hear of Anthony’s passing. I always enjoyed seeing and talking with him, especially about sports. He was always a family friend and we will miss him. God bless Anthony and his family.
Nancy and family: So sorry to hear of Anthony’s passing. You and your family are in our thoughts/
Thinking of you and your family at this time.
Anthony was one of my first pals when I moved to Hornell 33 years ago. For a while, he worked at The Tribune, where I was a reporter. When Anthony would see me walking down the sidewalk — the Dugos lived across the street from us — he’d shoot me a wave that I came to associate with Hornell: the arm hanging at the side, the hand rising and bending a little at the wrist. A super casual gesture that I eventually dubbed “Hornell cool.” Best to you always, Anthony. Give God that wave when you see Him. I can hear you, saying ” Hi, God.”
Although I did not personally know Anthony, I did run into him several times, and he always had a smile on his face, and that smile was contagious..he was always a gentleman and opened doors for anyone who may be passing through at the same time he was..he will be missed. My condolences to the family

Dear Aunt Nancy & cousin Nick, I’m so sorry to hear the news of Anthony’s passing. It is so unfortunate that this young man was taken from you so early. He had a big heart, was always friendly and he greeted people with a smile. I know he is now with other loved members of our family in paradise. May you find peace with fond memories in the days ahead.
