HORNELL-Melody “Mel” (Plummer) LaChiusa, 57, born on July 10, 1952, passed away early Thursday evening April 29, 2010 at her home in Hornell.

Melody attended high school at Cowanesque Valley in Westfield, Pa., where she was also born and raised. She received her associate’s degree from Alfred State College where she was employed and well loved for the past 12 years.
Her hobbies included sheltie rescue, jewelry making, spending summers at Tuckertown, sewing, stained-glass art, traveling, cooking and entertaining for her much loved friends and family. Her warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her
There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service that will take place in her memory at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.

Melody was a student of mine and then my colleague. What a wonderful, kind, bright, caring woman. Hornell and Alfred State will not be the same without her.
Melody and I were friends back in High School at Cowanesque Valley. More recently my husband and I had a chance to get together with her and Tim and a bunch of classmates at her cherished “Tucker Town”. What a great day of memories thanks to Melody and Tim. She will be truly missed.
ALTHOUGH I DIDNT KNOW MELODY LONG, I KNEW SHE WAS A WONDERFUL CARING HUMAN BEING, WITH ABUNDANCE OF LOVE IN HER HEART.
Melody was such a great person and always treated me like I was part of her family. She was always such a joy to be around. Love and miss you Mel.
Those of us in Sheltie Rescue will miss Melody and her gentle heart. The Rainbow Bridge celebrates her life as we express our sadness at her passing.
Just two years ago Melody volunteered to assist the Class of ’70 reunion committee. This gave me an oppty to reconnect with a fellow classmate during the 60’s. I hadn’t seen or spoken with her for nearly 40 years. But it was much more like a 4 month interval. She was still the great, loving, sharing, caring person I knew as a youngster. I was truly blessed by my brief time working with her on the reunion and the time spent in her presence.
During our visit to TuckerTown two years ago, I adored some of Melody’s blooming flowers. In the fall when her flowers went to seed, she sent me a package of seeds. Those flowers now grace the west side of our home in Missouri where the setting sun shines brightly on the little beauties. I am constantly reminded of what a wonderful friend I made that Sunday in June when she hosted her classmates at TuckerTown. Her kindness will be appreciated well into the future.
Deep sympathy and love to the LaChiusa family and friends. Thanks Mel & Tim for the one time at Tucker Town and thanks for being a dear friend to Cathy my grandchildren and daughter enjoyed some times at tucker town with you.
Dear Tim and Family,
We were so very sorry to hear of Mel’s passing. We are all shocked and saddened by the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very trying time.
I remember the great times we had at Tuckertown and all the family there, as well as the wonderful times visiting with you all and Jane and Mary K in Hornell.
Much Love,
Gus, Katherine, and Carol Carney
Tim and family my thoughts and prayers are with you. Mel was a great gal, I remember the ice cold glasses of tea she gave Tim and I and some laughs we shared after shoveling off top soil from my yard years ago for Tim and Mel’s pepper garden , dug up using Tim’s rototillar.
God bless, Tim Lloyd
Dear Tim and family, Deepest sorrow over loss of Mel. Mel will be remembered and I am a better person because of knowing her.

Mel was a classmate of mine, a couple of years ago I learned about her past adventures and wonderful family. She will be missed by many.
KEEP HER IN YOUR HEARTS AND REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES.
Melody and I were friends in rescue for many years and shared our love and attitude in that and other things. I knew her to be a loving, caring person and will sorely miss her.
My thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends – she will live on in all of us but especially her beloved family.
Tim and Family: You probably do not know me but I knew Melody when I was younger. She was actually my neighbor for a while. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Neva: I am sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. Along with my thoughts and prayers I also send my love and deepest sympathies.
