MELODY “MEL” (PLUMMER) LaCHIUSA

HORNELL-Melody “Mel” (Plummer) LaChiusa, 57, born on July 10, 1952, passed away early Thursday evening April 29, 2010 at her home in Hornell.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend and is survived by her husband of 24 years, Timothy; her brother, Bill (Connie) Plummer; her three children, David, Neva and Sara; her five step-children, Laurie, Richard, Michael, Mary and Amy; her 18 beloved grandchildren; also her brother-in-law, Steve (Mary) LaChiusa.
Melody attended high school at Cowanesque Valley in Westfield, Pa., where she was also born and raised. She received her associate’s degree from Alfred State College where she was employed and well loved for the past 12 years.
Her hobbies included sheltie rescue, jewelry making, spending summers at Tuckertown, sewing, stained-glass art, traveling, cooking and entertaining for her much loved friends and family. Her warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her
There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service that will take place in her memory at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to either the National Sheltie Rescue Fund, c/o Dorothy Christiansen, PO Box 819, New Lenox, IL 60451 or to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
