February 10, 1938 -August 16, 2024
PULTENEY – Romey Tyler passed away Friday (Aug. 16, 2024) in his home surrounded by his family.
He worked for the Steuben County Highway Department for many years and did electrical work with Jack Thompson and later with Jason tears; whom he came to love and respect as one of his own. Romey was known to most as a “Jack of all trades.” No job too big or too small. He enjoyed being busy.
Romey loved his family and friends, hunting, socializing, a cold beer, a warm day, working in the garden, rolling the dice in a game of greedy, watching the Grit channel, some scratch off tickets and Poker night on the porch with “the boys.”
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Judy Lou (Marvin) Tyler; his son, Stanley J. Tyler; parents, Peter and Nella (Gowin) Tyler; siblings, Jesse, Robert, Richard, Luretta (Ames), Doris (Bennett), Louise (Darrin) and Patricia (Para).
He is survived by his children, Dorothy (Michael) Buckley, Rhonda Tyler, Judith (Scott) Campbell, Peter Tyler (Lisa Maidenford), Virginia (James) Watson, Toby (Barbie) Tyler, Brenda (Robert) Frost, Jesse (Jennifer) Tyler; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Tyler, Linda Erway, Norma Darrin and Fredrick Tyler.
To honor his wishes there will be no funeral service.
A celebration of Romey’s life will be held at the Pulteney Fire House on Sunday (Sept. 1, 2024) from 1-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulteney Volunteer Fire Department.
