TINA M. WELCH

HORNELL – Tina M. Welch, 57, passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital on Saturday Aug. 31, 2024 surrounded by her family after an unexpected illness.

Born on May 9, 1967 in Canandaigua, NY she was the daughter of Sharon Washburn and Harold Raner. She went to school in Greenwood, NY and Canisteo, NY. She attended RBI for business but was unable to finish due to health problems. She worked various bartending and retail jobs before working at Sugar Creek in Arkport, NY as a cashier. She also worked as a tax preparer at Liberty Tax in Dansville, NY.  She was also a homemaker.

On May 15 ,1983 she married James Welch. They had three children together and six children from James’ previous marriage.

Tina enjoyed being a Nana more than anything. She always said that she wished she had grandchildren first instead of kids. She loved spending time with family and friends. She loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports throughout the years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, planting flowers, and cultivating houseplants. You could often find her snuggled with her cats and dog watching YouTube farming videos. She was a NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. She enjoyed being a part of the Hornell Dodgers/Steamers and loved being a host grandma to the players her daughter hosted.

Tina is predeceased by her father, Harold Raner and her grandsons, Eric and Shane. Her very good friends Rita Rainey, Linda Halbert, Sylvia George, and Mert O’Dell.

Tina is survived by her husband of 41 years, James Welch; her mother, Sharon Washburn; and her brothers, Tony Washburn, Jason Raner, and Michael Raner. Her children: Jammie (Matthew) Clark, Joshua (Randee) Welch, Jessica (Joe) Clark, Sheri Welch, Kim Woodworth, David (Traci) Welch, Laura (David) Kenyon, Destry Welch, and Shannon (Larry) Murray. Her grandchildren: James, Michael, and Andrew Clark, Alexander and Reese Welch, Ameilia, Gabriella, Brennan, Brayden, and Noah Clark, Rikki Lin and Patrick Nisbet, Kari and Brian Luellman, Casey Renno, Samantha and Devin Welch, John Casterline, Rachel Blank, Emily and Dylan Kenyon. Great and great great grandkids, aunts, uncles, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Her bonus kids and grandkids she “adopted” as hers.
