Theo K. Sick
AVOCA – Theo K. Sick, 96, formerly of Avoca, passed away Wednesday evening (Feb. 16, 2022) at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home, in Clifton Springs, NY.
Born in Corning, NY on May 14, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Ellis and Margaret (Gleason) Kidder. On May 30, 1944, she was married in Cohocton, NY to Raymond W. Sick, who predeceased her on Sept. 10, 2011, after 67 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Lindsley (Margaret) Kidder; and her brother-in-law, Richard Beechner
A resident of Avoca for nearly 80 years, Theo and Ray moved to Victor, NY in 2001.
She was a graduate of Avoca Central School and was employed at the former Clymo’s Red & White Store in Wallace, NY and at one was employed as a secretary for Steuben County.
Theo was a member of the Avoca United Methodist Church and was also a member and past matron of the Avoca Eastern Star.
She enjoyed shopping and will be remembered most of all for being an excellent cook. Theo especially loved hosting gatherings for family and friends, attending church on Sundays and going on Sunday drives throughout the countryside. She was also an avid bowler and was a member of a league at the former Murphy’s Bowling Lanes in Bath, NY.
Her loving surviving family includes three children, Douglas (Donna) Sick of Howard, NY, Shelley (Larry) Bishop of Farmington, NY and Jeffrey (Monika) Sick of Dayton, OH; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Beechner of Prattsburgh, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 1-2 p.m. Monday (Feb. 21, 2022) at the Avoca United Methodist Church, where a funeral and committal service will be held following the calling hours at 2 p.m. Monday with Pastor Barre Butts officiating. Private interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either the Avoca United Methodist Church, 8593 Jacobs Ladder Road, Avoca, NY 14809 or to the Victor-Farmington Ambulance Corps, 1321 East Victor Road, Victor, NY 14564.
