Rose Marie Pizura
GENEVA – Rose Marie Pizura passed away on Monday (March 28, 2022) at The Living Center North in Geneva, NY.
Rose was born on February 4, 1927, in Roscoe, NY, to the late Michael and Tekla Pizura. The family moved to Prattsburgh, NY in 1932. Rose graduated Franklin Academy and the Prattsburgh Central School valedictorian in June 1944. Upon completion of a program in Bacteriology at Alfred Ag & Tech., she was employed by Kodak, in Rochester, NY, for several years. Rose took her vows in 1956 and entered The Congregation of Our Lady of the Cenacle, in Rochester, NY. Leaving the order in 1973, she pursued a career in Nursing at Monroe Community College. After obtaining her Registered Nurse’s license, she was employed by Rochester General Hospital until her retirement in 1996, to the family farm in Prattsburgh, NY. Rose sold the family farm, in Prattsburgh, in 2012. She resided at Spruce Acres, in Penn Yan, NY, until her admission to The Living Center North, in Geneva, NY, July 2021.
Rose is survived by her sister Anna Parshall, of Prattsburgh, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose was pre-deceased by her sisters Pauline Levandowski, Sophie Balicki, Mary Semchuck, Stella Tears, her brothers Walter Pizura, and fraternal twin John Pizura.
A member of St. Patrick’s Church in Prattsburgh, NY, Rose was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music, and scrabble. Rose was independent and hardworking, liked a good laugh and sharing stories of her youth. She will be dearly missed by all.
A funeral service will be held Monday (April 4, 2022) at 11:00 a.m., at the Bishop & DeSanto (formerly LaMarche) Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport, NY 14840, with Father Leo officiating.
