Richard K. Crawford
AVOCA-Richard K. Crawford, 87, passed away Sunday evening (Aug. 23, 2020) at his home on Hopkins Road.
Born in Oyster Bay, N.Y. on Aug. 9, 1933, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ruth (VanVorris) Crawford. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by one sister, Ruth Smith and four brothers, Joseph, William, Raymond and Robert Crawford.
He retired in 2002 from the Oyster Bay Water District after 49 years of employment.
Richard loved gardening and hunting and fishing with his brothers.
He was loved by many.
His loving family includes one daughter, Jeannine Crawford; one son, Richard K. Crawford, Jr.; two grandchildren, Kenneth William Willis and James L. Schlosser; seven great-grandchildren, Bailey Willis, Dylan Willis, Jayden Willis, Jesse Parker, Nikko Willis, Shelby Bruton and Nick Bruton; two great-great-grandchildren, William Willis and Derek Jones; eight siblings, Donald Crawford of Waverly, N.Y., Dennis (Sandy) Crawford of Avoca, Gerald Crawford of Ozark, Alabama, Joan (Joe) Galasso of Milan, Pa., Roland (Carol) Crawford of Oyster Bay, N.Y., Linda (Michael) King of Holly, Colorado, Bruce Crawford of Sayre, PA. and Sharon (Pete) Abrams of Westhampton Beach, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews, he was especially proud of his nephew, Austin Crawford because of the man he’s become.
The Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca is honored to serve the family of Richard K. Crawford.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of his family. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
