BATH/HOWARD – Norma J. Bly, 91, of Bath, a former long-time resident of Howard, NY, passed away late Tuesday evening (Jan. 7, 2025) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath where she has resided for the past two months.
Born in Hornell on May 31, 1933 she was a daughter of the late Albert Kennell and Blanche (Roff) Eichorn. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her daughter, Robin Bly Havens; a grandson, Joshua Bly; one brother, Donald Kennell and one sister, Noritta Smith.
A graduate of Arkport Central School, Norma became a resident of Howard in 1955 after her marriage on July 2, 1955 at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to John G. Bly, who survives. She and John have resided in Bath for about the past 12 years. Before retiring Norma was employed for nearly 18 years at Crowley Dairy in Arkport, NY.
She enjoyed doing Swedish weaving, crocheting, but most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 69 years, John; five children, Michael (Diane) Bly of Bath, Patrick Bly of Avoca, NY, Shawn Bly of Bath and Kelly Ann Bly (Dixie Banner) also of Bath; five grandchildren, Angela and Kristopher Bly, Samantha and Katie Havens and Bailee Bly; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Hanna Bly; one sister, Linda Kennell of Arkport; two brothers, Norman (Kathy) Kennell and Richard (Darla) Kennell all of Arkport; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Taylor Health Center for the wonderful care that Norma received.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of her family at the Howard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Taylor Health Center, 7571 State Route 54, Nath, NY 14810.
