Michael P. Terboss

PRATTSBURGH/HORNELL – Michael P. Terboss, 66 of Mechanic Street, Prattsburgh, formerly of Hornell, entered into rest late Saturday afternoon (Oct. 26, 2024) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with his family at his side, surrounded by their love.

Born in Hornell on June 1, 1958 he was a son of the late Robert and Sadie (Randall) Terboss. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by one brother, Robert Terboss and two sisters, Kathleen Terboss and Aimie Combs.

A resident of Hornell for most of his life, Mike has resided in Prattsburgh for the past three years. He was a graduate of Hornell High School and attended Alfred State College. Mike proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1977 to his honorable discharge in 1980 and served with the Army Reserves until 1982.

For the past 30 years he was employed as a truck driver with KLLM Transports of Jackson, MS where he was a well-respected trainer.

A member of the Hornell AmVets Post No. 245, Mike liked listening to music and painting landscapes. He never sat still very much and was a very sociable person who everyone loved. Throughout his lifetime he touched many people’s lives. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed talking with family, friends and coworkers. Mike will be dearly missed!

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 43 years, Melodie (Bartle) Terboss who he married in Canisteo, NY on July 1, 1981; five children, Patrick M Terboss of Prattsburgh, Michele (Daniel) Cranmer of Corning, NY, Rev. Matthew Terboss of Prattsburgh, Timothy Terboss of Prattsburgh and Bridget (Anthony) Baize of Easley, SC; eight grandchildren, Emmah, Neveah, Haillie, Catelyn, Reed, Michael, Patrick and Sophia; three brothers, Patrick D Terboss of Hornell, Sean (Mary Alice) Terboss of West Henrietta, NY and Philip Combs of Vestal, NY; two sisters, Jean (Earl) Utterback of Aurora, IN and Christie (Victor) Combs of Binghamton, NY; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 1, 2024) at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell. The United States flag and the Army flag will proudly fly at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home in recognition of Mike’s military service.

Relatives and friends are invited to join his family at the Prattsburgh Baptist Church, 5 North Main St. where his son, Rev. Matthew Terboss, will officiate at a funeral and committal service beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 2, 2024), followed by military honors. Private interment will be at Bath National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Hornell AmVets Post No. 245, 28 Broadway Mall, Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
