Mark “Michelle” Ames

COHOCTON – On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Mark “Michelle” Ames, age 70, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life marked by dedication, kindness, and faith. Born on August 20, 1954, in Alden, NY, Mark spent his lifetime contributing notably to his community and workplace. His career with the Federal Aviation Administration as a navigation technician epitomized his precision and devotion, roles he fulfilled with pride and excellence.

Mark’s life was one of active involvement and compassion. He was a faithful member of Avoca Baptist Church, where his contribution enriched both his life and those around him. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping and working on various projects around his home. He really loved the Christmas season and found great joy in donating items for Operation Christmas Child. His selflessness and generosity left an indelible mark on those he helped, living by the principle of giving back to those less fortunate.

Predeceased by his daughter Shannon Ames, father Charles Ames, and mother Bessie Ames, Mark leaves behind cherished family members who will continue to celebrate his life. He is survived by his brother Kevin Ames and sister-in-law Trudy; his sister Sharon Shifflett and brother-in-law Bill; his sister Debbie Hinks and brother-in-law Stephen. Perhaps most importantly, Mark’s enduring legacy continues with his daughter Shawna Dokko and son-in-law Bom and his grandchildren: Taylor Boyer, Autumn Boyer, Jacob Boyer and Ava Bartnicki.

Family and friends will gather to honor Mark’s memory at Avoca Baptist Church, 1 Chruch St., with visitation scheduled from 11 AM to 1 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2024, with services directly following.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org) as a tribute to Mark’s life of service and warmth. Mark’s kind and gentle spirit will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him, reminding all of the profound impact of a life lived in faith and love.

The Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., AVOVA is honored to assist Mark’s family with the arrangements.
