Margaret Ruth Crittenden
NORTH HORNELL-Margaret Ruth Crittenden, 92, formerly of Linwood Avenue, passed away Saturday morning (Jan. 11, 2020) at Elderwood at Hornell.
Born in Niagara Falls, N.Y. on July 15, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Loretta Eaton. She was married to Donald Crittenden, who predeceased her on April 2, 1999. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Janice Medberry and her long-time companion, Ignatius “Nay” Mattie.
A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Ruth graduated from high school in Niagara Falls.
She was employed as a telephone operator and before she retired she was employed as the manager of the former Weils’ Stationery on Main Street in Hornell.
An avid card player, she also served as a volunteer for many years at the Hornell Public Library and delivered books to shut-ins.
Her family includes a son-in-law, William Medberry of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tara, Christopher and Andrew Medberry; one sister, Alene of Ohio. Ruth is also survived by many “adopted grandchildren.”

There will be no calling hours. Private committal services and interment will be held at Bath National Cemetery.
