Linda Rae Dunham
ARKPORT – Linda Rae Dunham, 77, passed away peacefully early Monday morning (May 20, 2024) at her home in Arkport, surrounded by the love of her family. Linda was fortunate to have six more years of life after receiving a liver transplant on Jan. 2, 2018.
Born in Hornell on Oct. 30, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Wilma Jean (McCollumn) Bailey. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by one son, Scott Dunham, a grandson, Jason Dunham; and two sisters, Kelly Bailey and Donna Reynolds.
A graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1964, Linda resided in Hornell before moving to Arkport in 1969.
She was employed by Allegany County ARC in Alfred, NY and retired from Alstom in Hornell. After retiring she worked in the cafeteria of Arkport Central School.
An avid fan of the NY Yankees, the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers, she was an excellent bowler and one year she and a fellow bowler finished in third place in New York state. Linda enjoyed going for rides, eating out, car races and especially loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Linda loved everyone and will be remembered most of all for her wonderful hugs.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 57 years, Murray “Skip” Dunham who she married in Genesee, PA on Sept. 15, 1966; three sons, Timothy (Sandy) Dunham of Scio, NY, Daniel (Deb) Dunham also of Scio, NY and Brian (Shelly) Dunham of Hornell; nine grandchildren, Jimmy, Kristy, Heidi, Tara, Justin, Kyle, Katie; also Caden and Jacob, to whom Linda played an important part in their lives; 14 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lorrie (Ed) George of West Almond, NY, Becky (Alan) Conine of Rochester, NY, Cindy (Brett) Zimmerman of Pulteney, NY, Patty (Roger) Henry of North Rose, NY and Debi (Donald) Hollister of Newark, NY; one brother, Joe (Linda) Bailey; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Linda’ s life will be held later at a date, time and place to be announced.
