Laura Mae Hunter
CANASERAGA-Laura Mae Hunter, 72, of South Church Street, passed away Thursday morning (July 21, 2022) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a sudden illness.
Born in Burlington, NC on Oct. 15, 1949, Laura was one of 15 children.
She was a former resident of Richmond, VA where she was employed as a 411 operator for Bell Atlantic Telephone, retiring from Verizon in 1998.
Throughout her life Laura raised many foster children and she will be remembered most of all for her generosity; always willing to help those in need by either cooking for them or giving them money. She would often spend time collecting cans so that she would have extra funds to share with others.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Quincy (Jessica) Lightfoot, with whom she resided with in Canaseraga for the past five years, as well as several foster children.
To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
The Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to assist Laura’s family with the arrangements.
Online condolences or remembrances of Laura are welcome in the comment section below or on the Facebook page of Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home.
She lived a very full funfilled life in the 5 years that I have known her. She loved everyone and showed it every day. My heart goes out to Taz and Jessica as I know they cherished her. Her dear friend Joyce also.
