KIM M. BURGER

HORNELL-Kim M. Burger, 50, of 14 Alley Ave., passed away suddenly Sunday morning (Dec. 15, 2013) at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell where she was taken after becoming ill at home.
Born in Hornell on Aug. 13, 1963, she was a daughter of John and Marjorie Murdock Khork. On June 19, 1981 she was married at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Hornell to Bruce Burger, who survives.
A native and lifelong resident of Hornell, Kim was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1981 and also attended Steuben-Allegany County BOCES in Hornell to become an LPN.
For the past 29 years she was employed by St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell in several different capacities and most recently as the secretary for the Psychiatric Care Unit.
Kim adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nana.” She also loved her pets as well as flowers and enjoyed spending time with her friends on Wednesdays and Fridays. Kim was a member of the Hornell Association and the Canisteo American Legion.
She was predeceased by her father, John Khork.
Her loving family includes her husband of 32 years, Bruce; her two daughters, Kirsten Burger of Arkport and Alicia Burger of Hornell; her two grandchildren, Jaden Ohara and Makayla Slater; her mother, Marjorie Khork of Hornell; her five siblings, Richard (Malu) Khork of Buffalo, Raymond (Nancy) Khork, Ruth Ann Cornish, Ronald Khork and Jon Khork all of Hornell; also her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. At Kim’ request there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.

  3. I can’t begin to come up with the words on how sad I am for all of Kim’s family. She was so full of life when I would see her here at work. She will be missed by so many of us.
